On Saturday, 24th March, 2018, a Professor of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, and a student of the same Department, Adeyemi Oluwamayowa Oreoluwa raised the University of Lagos’ Banner high at the 2018 Creativity Week, Pitcher Awards Night.
The Creativity Week which held between March 22nd and March 25th at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos State, Nigeria, is the Pre-Cannes Lion’s Festival programme organised by Chini Productions who are the official Cannes Lions Festival Representatives in Nigeria.
At the event which marked the close of the 2018 Creativity Week, Oluwamayowa Oreoluwa Adeyemi, a 400 Level student of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos (UNILAG), emerged winner (Gold Medal Winner) of the Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) Award for undergraduate students of the 2018 Creativity Week. Oluwamayowa’s creative advertising proposal was adjudged the best that was entered by students across several higher institutions in the continent.
Mayowa now gets the opportunity to represent Nigeria and indeed sub Saharan Africa at the Cannes Lions Festival held annually in Cannes, South of France in June. The Cannes Lion is the world biggest Advertising festival held annually in France. Oluwamayowa’s feat at the competition earned her lecturer and Head of the Department of Mass Communication, UNILAG, Professor Abigail Odozi Ogwezzy-Ndisika the award of Best Teacher.

- Silver Medal Winner – Akinlosose Faith Ayomikun, University of Ibadan
- Bronze Medal Winner – Ekundayo Oluwademilade Grace, Redeemer’s University
- Best School Award – School of the Year University of Ibadan
