Structured Training for African Researchers (STARS) workshop, Monday 10 – Tuesday 11 July, University of Lagos

Workshop organised by The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)

and hosted by the University of Lagos

Registration is open for this important two day workshop which will comprise a combination of talks and demonstrations interspersed with some group work, discussion sessions and case study/role play exercises.

Structured, institutional support for early career academics is often lacking within universities, so it is incumbent upon senior academics to take an active role in supporting their colleagues along this path. To this end, the ACU, in collaboration with experienced academics in African universities, has developed STARS– a web-based training programme in research skills for early career academics.

Who should attend this workshop?

Senior academics, research managers, directors of graduate schools, and anyone with a responsibility for academic staff development.

Why participate?

  • Develop strategies and tools to facilitate mainstreaming early career support within institutions.
  • Come out of the workshop feeling equipped and able to set up and run the STARS programme within your institution, either in face-to-face or distance mode.
  • Utilise shared learning and experiences from all participants.

Places are limited, so please book as soon as possible.

Read more and reserve your place on Eventbrite by Tuesday 27 June.

Please note that there is a nominal fee to pay which includes refreshments/lunch and workshop materials. Payment must be paid by bank transfer in advance of the workshop and by Tuesday 27 June at the latest.
NB Your participation in this workshop will entitle you to a complementary first day’s attendance (Wed 12 July) at the Developing the next generation of researchers workshop, also being held at the University of Lagos.

We hope to see you or your colleagues in Lagos on Monday 10 July 2017!
