Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Wasiu Adeyemo has emerged co-winner of the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) Gold Medal Prize for Life Sciences with Dr. Emmanuel Balogun of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and Professor Temidayo Ogundiran of the University of Ibadan (UI).

The co-winners were selected for the Prize out of 12 nominees due to the local relevance of their scientific achievements to the problems of the African region, as well as the high-level scientific knowledge they contribute to human heritage.

Prof. Adeyemo’s research accomplishments, has been in the area of molecular genetics. His research has promoted collaborative activities between University of Lagos, University of Iowa, University of Pittsburg, University of Dundee and some African universities.
