On Tuesday, January 22nd 2019, the College of Medicine, University of Lagos held a Commendation and Tributes Service for the late Professor Ayodeji Akintola Femi-Pearse at the Old Great Hall.
Dignitaries from far and wide graced the event, and they spared no efforts in reliving the life of a man they all agreed was a sterling scholar of medicine, an administrator par-excellence, a philanthropist, and a visionary entrepreneur whose brilliant mind conceived and founded the Whispering Palms Resort, Badagry Lagos State.
At the head of those who paid tributes was the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Dr Bolanle Babalakin, SAN, who extolled the solid life of integrity and service led by the deceased. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS also paid tributes to the administrative genius of late Professor Femi-Pearse which was brought to bear on keeping the peace and stability at the University of Lagos during the crisis of the early ’90s. The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun also praised the leadership of late Professor Femi-Pearce, which he identified as being instrumental to the founding and successful growth of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).
Members of the clergy were also on hand to conduct the service and to give exhortations.
Professor Femi-Pearse was a former Provost of College of Medicine, former Chief Medical Director of LUTH, and former Acting Vice-Chancellor of our beloved University of Lagos. He was also a former Pro-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).
