
It was a celebration of a life of fulfilment as late Professor Akanbi Ibidapo Akeju’s funeral service took place at the Chapel of Christ our Light at the University of Lagos today October 28, 2022.
The event had in attendance the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, members of the University of Lagos Management, children of the deceased and family members, alumni of Kings College, Fellows of the Academy of Science , Academy of Engineering, members of the University community and dignitaries from all walks of life.
A life well spent with beautiful intellectual antecedence, citations of late Professor Akanbi Ibidapo Akeju was read . He was acknowledged as a State Scholar and one of the finest of brilliant students. The Late Professor Akanbi graduated with a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering in University of Lagos as the first students with such grade. He had the best graduating result in the entire University of Lagos in 1967. He also won the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for the Best Overall Student.

The officiating Minister, Reverend Dr. Azuka Ogbolumani, in his Sermon told the congregation that the only thing that we would go home with when the bell rings is our works and records before God. Reverend Dr. Azuka told the congregation that it is best to fear God and obey His Commandments for eternal life.
Families and friends of late Professor Akanbi Ibidapo Akeju danced and thankfully acknowledged God for a life well spent of the late Professor of Engineering as the service came to an end .
