The P3P Strategy of the Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe Administration, took another dimension when the Chairman/ Managing Director of NILMAGE Two4Seven Limited, Lagos, Mr. Moses Babalola, donated high performance computers (Laptops) worth about N5million to the Communication Unit on Thursday May 6, 2021.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, who received the donor in company of the Principal Assistant Registrar and Head, Corporate Affairs Office (Communication Unit), Mrs. Nonyem Oguama in his office thanked the donor for his philanthropy. He remarked that the University as an entity cannot continue to operate in isolation for meaningful development to take place as such the need to seek possible collaborations for it to achieve its goals.
He further explained that the P3P Strategy, a brainchild of his administration has been able to attract committed funding from friends and alumni of the University for the Construction and renovation of facilities on campus, even in the face of the University limited finances.
The P3P Strategy is the “Pick a Project, Pick a Programme, Pick a Person” Public-Private Partnership model through which Professor Ogundipe has continued to attract critical support for academic, research and infrastructural needs of the University of Lagos.
Mr. Babalola, a top Finance Executive in his remark said that the University’s meteoric rise in the past has not gone unnoticed especially in the area of competing with other top class Institutions of higher learning across Africa and beyond it. He said that it became very necessary to help consolidate their ‘pay off’ of being the University of First choice and the Nation’s pride.
He revealed that once he got a hint on the need of a very sensitive unit of the University, an auspice of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to contribute his own quota, which is in an effort to assist the unit in its news gathering and information dissemination within the university and outside of it.
Mr. Babalola also assured that the he is willing to assist the University in whatever areas his support may be needed when called upon.
The presentation of the computers had other management staff of the University in attendance that includes the Deputy Vice Chancellors, Development Services, Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, and Management Services, Prof. Lucian Obinna Chukwu and the Deputy Director, Academic Planning Unit, Dr. (Mrs) Ronke Samuel.
