The leadership of the Faculty of Engineering has expressed its commitment to seeking collaboration with industry players to strengthen industry-academia partnerships which are crucial to human capacity development.
The assertion was made when a team of five from the Faculty of Engineering led by Professor Obanishola Sadiq recently visited Choice International Group at its Lagos Office.
During the visit, Professor Sadiq averred that the Faculty is in the forefront of the institutions’ entrepreneurship advocacy. The Dean of Engineering further highlighted the role of Engineering and the need for students of the discipline to undergo practical training with top.
According to him, “this is a follow up visit to forge a partnership with your organization in some areas of mutual interest”.
He highlighted the collaborative areas to explore to include collaborative research in the areas of ICT, OIL & GAS Automobile etc; student’s industrial training experience, the donation of equipments to the university, offer short term leave for at least for 3-6 months for academic and technical staff.
While appreciating the university team for visiting the organisation, the General Manager, Mr. Herman Tai underscored the importance of industry-academia collaboration as students will be encouraged to acquire skills required to develop themselves, such as innovative thinking, business creativity, business planning, proposal writing, risk taking abilities, and business management skills that are necessary towards developing the real sector of the Nigeria economy.
The visit to Choice International Group, CIG had Professor Joshua Ojolo, Tolu Ankinbulire of the Electrical & Electronics/ Computer Engineering; Olufemi Ipinnimo of Systems Engineering; Ms Diwe in the Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty Officer, Mrs. Atinuke Adewuyi
