Today, Tuesday, February 18, 2020, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) was ranked 201–250 out of 533 universities from 47 countries/regions, by the Times Higher Education (THE) in its 2020 THE Emerging Economies University Rankings.
The Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020 includes only institutions in countries classified by the London Stock Exchange’s Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) Group as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier”, of which UNILAG falls in the frontier category.
The rankings used 13 performance indicators to judge institutions on their teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. These same indicators are used for THE World University Rankings but have been recalibrated to reflect the development priorities of universities in emerging economies.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, appreciates members of staff, students, alumni and friends of the University for their various contributions to the achievement of this feat and charges everyone to continue contributing their quota to make the University of Lagos great.
