The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria in collaboration with the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is set to hold a “Circular Economy Roundtable” scheduled thus:
Date: Tuesday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 9, 2023
Venue: Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre (AMDRC), UNILAG
Time: 9:00 – 17:00 WAT (11:00 – 19:00 EEST)
The roundtable discussion, which will focus on circular economy business models for sustainable environment and global competitiveness, will feature several panel discussions and four (4) keynote speeches. The speeches are:
- Civic Education and Responsibilities of Citizens in SWM Systems by Prof. Juha Hämäläinen of UEF.
- Circular Economy Business Models: Competitive Dynamics of Private Sector Recycle Culture in Lagos by Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola, CEO, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG).
- Circular Economy and Solid Waste Management: Sustainable Futures for Africa by Prof. Clinton Aigbavboa of University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
- Circular Economy and the Finnish Innovation Fund, Sitra by Sami Syrjälä, Project Coordinator, Circular Economy, Sitra, Finland.
The Circular Economy Roundtable is housed under the Finland-Lagos Recycling Culture Research & Development Project (F-LRCRDP) and supported by other Finnish universities: Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT University), Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Savonia UAS) and Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Laurea UAS).
