The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, has advocated a solution-driven ideology among holders of leadership positions.
Speaking in his office on Thursday, May 26, 2022 while receiving officers of the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (N.C.E.E.C.), Prof. Ogundipe also stressed the need for holders of leadership posts to be problem solvers rather than complainants.
The Vice-Chancellor was speaking against the backdrop of poor and incompetent leadership which has bedeviled critical sectors over the years hence the myriad of challenges being confronted.
While charging holders of higher offices to see their positions as a call to responsibility and a mandate held in public trust, Prof. Ogundipe equally identified diligence, accountability and transparency as indispensable virtues in good leadership.
He passed a vote of confidence in the capacity of officers of the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (N.C.E.E.C.) to look inward and develop strategies for community impact which would also lead to energy solutions for the University, its environs and Lagos state at large.
In his remarks, the Director, National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (N.C.E.E.C.), Dr. Olawale Ajibola appreciated the University management for the trust and confidence.
While assuring of the centre’s preparedness for quality impact in line with its mandate to organize and conduct researches in energy efficiency and conservation, Dr. Ajibola noted that the N.C.E.E.C. had carried out energy audits an assessment at some parts of UNILAG campus, an exercise it hopes to sustain.
In their separate remarks, other members of the N.C.E.E.C. team were full of gratitude to the management of the University for the enabling environment accorded the centre to perform its functions.
Established in 2008, the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (NCEEC) situated at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos is one of six research centres within the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), its core responsibility is to organize and conduct research in energy efficiency and conservation.
Dr. Olawale Olaniyi Ajibola was deployed to the Centre as Acting Director in October 2021 through a letter written to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos and signed by the Director-General/CEO, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Professor Eli Jidere Bala.
