TCEBCEM, UNILAG Welcomes Its First Visiting Scholar

The TETFUND Centre of Excellence in Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management (TCEBCEM), University of Lagos has received its first Visiting Scholar, Kowiyou Yessoufou. He is an Associate Professor of Environmental Management at the Department of Geography, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dr. Yessoufou has an M.Sc. in Forest Ecology from the University of Benin and a Ph.D. in Botany (University of Johannesburg, South Africa). His area of research is centred around people and the environment.

During his stay at UNILAG, he will discuss various opportunities for research collaboration, doctoral and postdoctoral studies as well as faculty and student exchanges at University of Johannesburg. He will also deliver two (2) seminars entitled:

  • Evolutionary History and Conservation of the Taxonomic Group of Cycads (TCEBCEM webinar 1)
  • Population Growth, Pandemics and Biodiversity (Faculty of Science Special Seminar Series)

The TETFund Centre for Biodiversity, Conservation, and Ecosystem Management (CEBCEM), University of Lagos, was established in 2018 with the aim of mitigating threats to global, biological, and cultural diversity and expanding knowledge on biodiversity and providing leadership in conservation, sustainability, and environmental biology.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the University community welcomes Dr. Kowiyou Yessoufou to the University and wishes them a fruitful stay at the TCEBCEM.
