NBC Rebrands UNILAG Main Cafeteria

Management of the University of Lagos, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, reaped yet another benefit of its strategic partnership engagements with corporate bodies as the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), franchise bottler of Coca-Cola in Nigeria, carried out a total rebranding of the varsity’s main cafeteria: 2001 Cafeteria.

The initiative for the overhaul of the 2001 Cafeteria was launched by the Directorate of Property Management Development and Investment (PDI) which manages the cafeteria. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu along with the Chairman, Director and staff of PDI, Professor Ewaen Ikponmwosa and Mrs Yetunde Ogunlewe received the NBC team at the cafeteria.

Held as part of a nationwide activation programme tagged “Ginja Naija” sponsored by the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, officials of the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) led by the Managing Director, Goran Sladic, were physically present on the UNILAG Main Campus, Akoka, with marketing materials to ensure a total facelift of the cafeteria which is located at the New Hall Complex.

The Ginja Naija campaign in UNILAG, saw all chairs and tables in the cafeteria being replaced with new ones; workers were supplied with branded aprons; and students who walked into the cafeteria during the exercise were given different branded souvenirs courtesy of the Coca-Cola team.

The NBC Managing Director, Goran Sladic personally ensured that every chiller in the cafeteria was parked full of beverages under the NBC franchise.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu, on behalf of the University Management, appreciated the NBC for the gesture, which he described as “another low-hanging fruit of the long-standing relationship between UNILAG and the Nigerian Bottling Company”.

While reiterating the university’s commitment to ensuring optimal usage and proper maintenance of the new facilities at the cafeteria, Prof Chukwu solicited the company’s support towards deepening the impact as well as successes of the UNILAG Sustainability Challenge which is targeted at tracking, collecting, recycling and curbing the throwing of plastic bottles into the lagoon through the University while also providing incentives to those involved with the sorting of plastics on campus.
