His words: “It gladdens our heart that you emerged from the crème de la crème of eggheads that competed for the job of Vice-Chancellor. Your emergence is one that enriches the history of our Alma Mater; and as an alumni association, we are proud to associate with it.”

Dr Olowojebutu extolled the qualities of the Vice-Chancellor as a thorough-bred professional, whose international exposure will bring much value to the University of Lagos.

“I have known you for more than 20 years. I know the quality you carry; and, on the back of that, I know that UNILAG is in for good times. As we have done with previous Vice-Chancellors, we are here to congratulate you, to wish you the best of time in office, and to pledge our loyalty and unalloyed support”.

The Vice-Chancellor, in her response, expressed gratitude for the visit. She reiterated her belief in the role of the alumni as a critical stakeholder for the University of Lagos and a valuable asset.

“It is very heart-warming to get the kind of support that has been coming my way since I resumed office.”, she said.

“It comforts me and strengthens my resolve to work very diligently for the greater glory of our university. It is my determination to take the University of Lagos to that height where by mere association with our brand, it is taken for granted that an individual is sound and knows his onions. I believe that tertiary education should move from knowledge to practice, it should touch society at its exact points of need, and I am ready to lead University of Lagos to champion that cause”.

“We will work closely with our alumni, because most of what we want to do will be dependent on our cordial relationship with our products out there doing great things. Our alumni are an asset base, and we shall leverage that to the maximum. Once again, I thank you for coming.”

Vice-Chairman II of the Lagos State Branch, Mr. Olagunju Temitope; the Secretary, Mr. Ebun Oluranti, and prominent member of the association, Mr. Ola Idris Seriki were all present at the visit.
