The Faculty and staff of the University of Lagos comprise very highly qualified academics and professionals. These personnel are selected from the very best in their areas of expertise and their experience and training is brought to play in the daily and long-term activities of the University.

Many members of faculty have won national and international awards. Many have also held powerful leadership positions in government and organisations, both in Nigeria and internationally. Quite a few serve as advisers to various arms of government related to their areas of training.

Members of the academic community are actively engaged in research and study and are constantly invlolved in activities that serve to improve their knowledge and skills, both in the classroom and in the service rendered to their communities.

A large percentage of the academic staff are resident in University accomodation, most of which is situated on the main campus of the University. Accomodation on the main campus brings them in closer proximity with the requisite resources for intellectual pursuit and development and helps to make them more accessible to students.

The number of staff of the University has risen over the year to its current figures.
